Finning Power Systems targets total cost of ownership at Data Centre World 2013

At Data Centre World 2013, Finning Power Systems (Finning) is showcasing a range of power generation solutions

designed to reduce total cost of ownership and improve efficiencies in mission critical applications on stand number B55.

Cat C175-20 genset

The newly-rated Cat C175-20, now available to data centre operators for the first time in the UK, produces the greatest power output of any single high-speed diesel generator set available on the market, producing up to 4 MW of power.

The engine’s high power density provides more power from a smaller footprint. A single 4 MW C175-20 represents a 55 percent reduction in footprint when compared with two 2 MW Cat 3516B generator sets and, a 28 percent reduction when compared with a 4MW Cat 3612.

This increased power density is a key benefit for standby power for large data centre installations and can reduce the ancillary equipment required, particularly when integrated with Cat switchgear and UPS products, resulting in a more cost-effective installation.

Total cost of ownership

Lifetime operating costs are now a critical consideration in the procurement of data centre power solutions, with a wide range of factors such as the cost of energy, heat loss, component replacement, maintenance and duty cycle needing to be factored alongside the initial capital expense.

Finning can help operators analyse all direct and indirect costs related to an investment decision including factors such as average load, efficiency and power requirement together with the capital expenditure, maintenance costs and electricity/operating costs.

The company can then define the ideal power solution that will meet both the available budget and provide the best efficiency levels during its operating lifecycle.

Total solution

Visitors to stand number B55 can also discuss their full range of mission-critical power requirements to ensure effective business continuity.  Ranging from clean, continuous power for base load reliability through to cost-efficient and dependable standby systems to ensure data remains intact, Finning provides a comprehensive range of expertise.

Experts will be available throughout the show to discuss the range of options available, including design specification, installation and commissioning, a range of service support and remote monitoring packages as well as financing solutions and equipment insurance.
