Recognise the value of maintaining compartmentation

Electrical Review Logo

Protecta, a leading provider of passive fire protection solutions, believes  electricians are missing an opportunity when it comes to installing and maintaining socket compartmentation.

The simple inclusion of an intumescent fire retardant into either a new or retrofit socket not only makes the levels of fire containment far more robust but also means that the electrician is able to add real value to his work at very little extra cost, either in terms of financial outlay or in installation times.

The Protecta Putty Pad has been designed to maintain the fire resistance of gypsum walls where these are breached by electrical switches and sockets. Once installed the product will last 25 years or more, and additional wiring can be easily added  at a later date if required.
