The owner of the Renewables Roadshow, which forms part of the Energy Efficiency Exhibitions, asserts that industry is desperate for government to deliver in 2013. Managing director, Dan Caesar, had this to say: “When the coalition came to power in 2010, they termed themselves the ‘greenest government ever’. Two years into their tenure and all of the thousands of industry stakeholders we work with, believe that the time for talk is over, government must deliver next year.”
Furthermore, Caesar argues there is incredulity amongst industry about the incompetence involved in the cutting of the Feed-in Tariff, and the “damp-squib-launch” of Green Deal: “In the UK we have an extraordinary opportunity. We have supply, with the products & people ready to deliver energy efficient technologies; and we have demand, with millions of homeowners desperate to save energy & money. It should be a win-win situation, but as of yet the Government have been unable to join the dots and this cannot continue.”
“Government intervention in our industry, such as the Boiler Scrappage Scheme and Feed-in Tariffs have led to short-term success, but we all now need a sustainable platform to build upon rather than the shifting sands of the last twelve months. It is obvious to most investing in the building industry is the solution, but until now government have seemed oblivious to this fact, consequently construction has suffered and there are now thousands of businesses that really need the Renewable Heat Incentive and Green Deal to succeed and fast.”
The Renewables Roadshow is set to return in September 2013, and while they are evolving to become part of the more expansive Energy Efficiency Exhibitions, renewable technologies remains an absolutely critical core element of the shows. As always, all of the demonstrations, presentations and products on show will be free to access and the Renewable Heat Incentive and Green Deal will be covered in detail.
