Riello UPS launches PowerBox

Electrical Review Logo

Riello UPS, Europe’s leading manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), has launched a new containerised solution. Riello PowerBox provides critical systems with a site specific power solution, wherever and whenever it is needed.

Easily deployed, with minimal impact on existing plant room and facilities, PowerBox contains all the necessary switchgear and distribution panels to deliver uninterruptible power from a combination power solution which can include: a Riello UPS, flywheel energy storage system, battery packs and suitably rated generator.

Ideal for a number of applications

The Riello PowerBox can be installed with components within a ‘stand-alone’ 20-foot or 40-foot container and is perfect for a range of applications including:

Modular data centres requiring a scalable power system

City data centre sites requiring additional power with no spare floor space

Public events requiring short-term power

Military and remote installations

The reason PowerBox is ideal for such applications is it allows you to optimise space within your facility. No longer do you need dedicated space within your data centre or plant room, as you simply sit the containerised solution where you need it and hook-up to pre-configured tails.

Easy installation

Riello PowerBox is designed for ‘quick and easy’ installation. Each system is pre-configured and tested to allow rapid deployment; responding to customer needs for emergency power or as part of an on-going project. It has been specifically designed for:

Ease of logistics: flatbed, Hiab delivery using a four-point lift

Mobility: forklift truck slots incorporated into the base of the unit

Ease of installation: central connection switchgear for resilient power

‘Forced air-cooling’ to remove the need for expensive air conditioning

Secure doors for ease of inspection and maintenance

Without an associated battery-build on-site the system can be hired to provide a ‘just-in-time’ response to demands for critical power; allowing organisations to focus their resources on their business, rather than investing in lengthy building projects.

ECO friendly

Containerised power solutions meet Riello’s stringent requirements for eco-friendly power protection systems. Their high operating efficiency saves energy and reduces operating costs. The energy savings achievable are configuration dependent and can typically lead to Capex recovery within five years.

On mains power failure, a traditional UPS configuration uses a battery set to provide a DC energy source. Within the clean energy UPS, a flywheel provides this runtime, with the following advantages over a similar sized battery set:

Compact footprint and high energy density

High reliability and efficiency (99%)

‘Instantaneous’ recharge (minutes compared to hours)

Minimal maintenance and a long working life (up to 20 years)

Simple ‘self-contained’ installation

Low total cost of ownership

Optional parallel battery kits

Availability

Containerised power solutions are available for short-term hire to allow clients to perform their own onsite tests prior to purchase or provide clean, resilient power for a specific event or project. The Riello UPS team runs installations 365 days a year and dedicated project managers will help you design, deliver and install the right configuration for your application. Full site surveys are provided in addition to CAD drawings and documentation.

Riello UPS operate nationwide service facilities and spares depots. Whether you install a Containerised Power Solution or a single Modular Power Source UPS, full pre-sales support and after-sales service is provided by factory trained engineers. Each system can be remote monitored by a central service data centre, providing remote alarm monitoring and reporting, emergency response and schedule inspections.
