AC/DC sensitive residual current monitoring modules

Electrical Review Logo

Unexpected operational interruptions and malfunctions often cost organisations time and money, and may have a negative impact on production and delivery dates. Therefore, the ability to detect impending operational interruptions at an early stage is increasingly being given top priority in modern maintenance strategies.

Continuous AC/DC sensitive fault current monitoring of essential loads such as UPS systems and variable-speed drives,  is an important part of this strategy. In this way, unexpected tripping of protective devices can be prevented or potential fire hazards can be recognised early on – before production is stopped incurring substantial costs.

Bender’s new RCMB20 and RCMB35 series AC/DC residual current monitoring modules feature an  electronic evaluation unit integrated in the enclosure of the measuring current transformer which provides an output signal of 4…20 mA proportional to the residual current. This signal can be used for visualisation purposes allowing engineers to plan intervention in advance.
