Smart UPS technology gets international seal of approval

Leading Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) specialists, Borri, has received independent certification for the B9000FXS and B9600FXS efficiency performance. The results show that testing, according to EN 62040-3 criteria, the B9000FXS and B9600FXS models achieve over 95% efficiency even at part load while operating in Online Double Conversion (VFI) mode.

The highly sought after certification, which was established by the International Electro-technical Commission in 1999 to help end users better understand UPS capabilities, was awarded to Borri by the global, independent certifying body, TÜV NORD Cert.

Following a sequence of rigorous testing procedures, which were carried out by TÜV NORD’s team of external auditors, Borri’s B9000FXS and B9600FXS models demonstrated ultimate power protection performance, whilst achieving remarkable efficiency levels.

Mark Trolley of Borri said; “The cost and energy savings of even 1%  increase in overall efficiency can amount to thousands of pounds. While it is common for some UPS manufacturers to test their equipment in house and declare the efficiency figures, there is some scope to be optimistic with the results.

“With this independent certification, our users can rest assured that the specifications we quote are what they will actually realise on-site, guaranteeing a lower TCO and ultimate efficiency. We are very proud of the results that were verified and achieved. We have proved that UPS’ can achieve superior efficiency levels and operate with an output transformer – the extra level of protection that other manufacturers have removed to gain efficiency and save costs. “

These exceptional operating capabilities are largely attributed to the sophisticated technology that Borri have invested in at component level, which was exclusively developed by Borri S.p.A.

Should the case be presented or the user require that Online Double Conversion (VFI) mode not be required, the Borri FXS also has the feature to operate in a Smart Online Mode (SOL), in this mode the UPS can achieve 98% efficiency.

SOL technology was developed to monitor the quality of power supplied, and chooses the most efficient operating mode based on the environmental conditions at the time, reverting to a conditioned line mode as default. This gives users total control to define the characteristics to run in high-efficiency direct line mode and empowers the UPS system to automatically switch between the two operating modes depending on the quality of the mains supply and in line with the characteristics specified by the user.

This unique functionality coupled with the same precision engineering and multifunctional characteristics of its predecessors make Borri’s FXS series one of the most proven, efficient and reliable UPS solutions on the market.
