Finning (UK) has become the sole shareholder of Damar Group.  Damar is a multi-disciplined service provider delivering civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, design and construction solutions for customers. The deal was completed on 6 February 2012 and includes Murray Control Systems, a designer and manufacturer of specialist control systems and panels.

“This deal is good news for both Finning and Damar who bring highly-valued specialist engineering and in-house capabilities to our business, which allows us to achieve our mid to long term strategic goals, strengthening our technical capabilities in key markets such as the water industry” said David Oates, power systems director, Finning (UK).

Oates continued, “We will provide access for Damar to both our national network and to a broader customer base. We will also provide the kind of backing and support that you would expect from a large global business for Damar to achieve the next steps in its strategic growth plans. Through collaboration, we will jointly commit to extending the capabilities and solutions on offer to both Finning and Damar customers.”

Damar, which includes Murray Control Systems based in Southampton, will become part of the Power Systems’ division of Finning (UK) and both companies will continue to operate under their existing names.

As part of the sale, Finning has acquired two key facilities including the Damar headquarters near Bath and the Murray Control Systems’ office in Southampton, as well as a number of other assets. 113 new operational and head office staff will also transfer as part of the deal. Day-to-day operations will remain the same for both customers and employees within Damar and the change of ownership will be regarded as business as usual.
