Socomec UPS announced its new UPS products, specifically for the data centre and commercial markets

A fully Modular UPS solution, Modulys, now joins the Green Power range. Providing all the benefits of the Green Power range, the new modular Green Power UPS is designed for complete vertical and horizontal modularity, so is ideal for use in critical IT applications and data centres.

Achieving power scaling by simply plugging new power modules (maximum of 6) into the modular UPS system. The modules come in 20 kVA power and can be scaled up to 240 kVA (12 modules) with two coupled modular systems. Battery capacity can be scaled in the same way in response to the data centre’s autonomy requirements, with up to 120 minutes at full load.
The modular UPS guarantees unbeatable energy efficiency – certified 96% (TÜV SÜD) in true
on-line, three phase, double conversion mode. Complete with high power density, a totally versatile redundant modular architecture for both power and batteries and with exceptional vertical and horizontal scalability.
The units feature a redundant architecture employing parallel plug-in modules. So when a new power/battery module is plugged in, the system automatically self-configures to bring the new capacity on line.
With real-time hot swap functionality, module maintenance is simplified, fast and safe, avoiding any risk of downtime without the aid of specialist staff. Enabling total front access to all components, MTTR (mean time to repair) is reduced to a minimum. The UPS also benefits from a reduced footprint (600x900x1695 mm) to optimise the use of space and reduces TCO (total cost of ownership) and a comprehensive range of communication tools, including EMD (environmental monitoring device) which monitors all environmental parameters, ensuring improved operation, while the optional ModBus TCP interface enables communications with BMS systems.
Designed specifically to meet an IT Manager’s desire for a considered option of an effective investment, with the security of a reliable protection solution but totally flexible and generates real savings throughout its service life.
Building on the strength and popularity of the Delphys Green Power 160 kVA and 200 kVA, Socomec UPS has now extended the range and the UPS product is now available in 320 kVA and 400 kVA units.
The three phase UPS is ideally suited for IT applications and Data Centres and comes complete with true on-line dual conversion. The highly efficient (96% verified by Bureau Veritas) uninterruptible power supply range now offers increased performance to ensure maximum availability with the best certified efficiency on the market.
Where innovation is driving the transition to green technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption, data centers play a primary role in the challenge of reducing CO² emissions and halving energy costs without sacrificing availability of service.
The Delphys Green Power UPS range has been upgraded with new functions, along with its new size extensions (320 and 400 kVA), specifically to meet a range of availability requirements and to configure a variety of power and redundancy architectures up to a maximum power of 1.6 MVA, with the option of choosing either a distributed or centralised bypass.
Incorporating a special energy saver mode for high-reliability architectures with partial loads subject to frequent power variations, the Delphys Green Power ensures low consumption for end-users. For example, in a 2N architecture, the energy saver mode keeps only the UPS units strictly necessary for ensuring N+1 redundancy in operation and switches the others on only if necessary. Redundancy is guaranteed, but the units are made to work in conditions of maximum efficiency: maximum efficiency with maximum availability.
Economic and environmental factors also warrant attention: If batteries malfunction, they are probably replaced early, giving rise to disposal problems. Battery monitoring is traditionally left to the self-tests run by the UPS, or to preventative maintenance. Often, however, self-tests are not comprehensive and maintenance work is carried out too late, with the result that battery health is adversely affected.
Delphys Green Power maximises its battery lifetime with two interactive devices: BHC Interactive (battery health check) and EBS (expert battery system).
The BHC 24/7 system constantly monitors the string current, voltage and temperature of the battery and sends an alert in any event of a possible malfunction. The EBS charging system manages the batteries on the basis of ambient temperature or the findings of BHC Interactive and attempts to recover the batteries where appropriate, thus maximising their lifetime.
