Transportable high voltage VLF test system for 11/33/66kV cables

Electrical Review Logo

The new HVA94 is the latest addition the b2 High Voltage's range of portable dry type high voltage very low frequency test systems. (b2 High – Voltage is a division of b2 electronic GmbH of Austria).

The HVA94 is a dry type test system (it has no oil filled components) capable of producing 0 – 94kV peak pure sine wave (66kV RMS), ± 90kV DC or 90kV peak square wave.

The output frequency is adjustable from 0.1 to 0.01Hz. This enables the system to test 1.0µF at 66kV at 0.1 Hz, and up to 11µF.at 0.01Hz at 66kV. This latter figure equates to some 33Km of cable!

Because of the totally dry type construction the HVA94 weights only 127kg and with dimensions 544 x 445 x 610 mm can be easily transported in a small to medium sized vehicle. The unit is able to operate over a temperature range from -5°C to +45°C with a storage temperature range of -25°C to +70°C.

The system is controlled from a large full LCD display and can be programmed to suit almost any customer specific routine. The LCD display also provides for measurement of output voltage and current as well as load capacitance, insulation resistance, test time, all together with a unique oscilloscope feature that displays HV output waveform and so any point of breakdown on the waveform during testing.

The unit is fitted with an RS232 port as standard but can also be supplied with a USB port as an option. The test systems results can be analysed using the HVA Control Centre Software.

Each test system is supplied with a 7.5m output cable, clear silicon rubber earth cable, 100kV discharge / earthing stick and a full operating manual.

Further accessory options are available as follows:
PD90 partial discharge system
Transit cases
Custom length HV and earthing cables.
