IRD has announced a partnership agreement with SFC Energy. Under the deal, IRD will supply its flow plates for use in SFC Energy's direct methanol fuel cells. It is the highest volume manufacturing agreement between the two fuel cell companies to date.
SFC Energy's chief operating officer, Dr. Jens Müller, said, "IRD was a fantastic choice for us. The technical specifications of its flow plates are outstanding, and IRD`s production facility means IRD can support us as our company and product range continues to grow. We are really pleased with the partnership and look forward to growing our working relationship with IRD."
IRD specialises in research, development and the production of fuel cell units, their components and complete systems. Its flow plates are used in the fuel cell stack where fuel – hydrogen or methanol – is converted into electricity. Furthermore, its production facility in Denmark means IRD can deliver high volume manufacturing, with flexible logistics for packaging and batch numbers.
"This deal is of great significance. SFC Energy is a leader in supplying fuel cells for portable and off-grid markets," said Bjørn Thorsen, chief executive of IRD. "By supplying our flow plates for SFC Energy's fuel cells, we hope to help them create a superior product for use in their energy solutions".
