The Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) has appointed Bill Wright to the newly created post of head of energy solutions.
Wright joins ECA to further enhance its services to members on energy efficiency and installing renewables. He will be working closely with the ECA environmental, technical, training and commercial team, and will co-ordinate a dedicated ‘green opportunities' helpline for ECA members, starting in the New Year.
A former corporate energy and environment manager for the John Lewis Partnership, Wright's remit included Waitrose and John Lewis department stores. He was directly involved in planning, building and engineering design to ensure new buildings and refurbishments incorporated sustainability in their construction. Prior to this he was chief electrical engineer for the John Lewis Partnership group for over 10 years.
Steve Bratt, ECA CEO commented: "Our members are the frontline troops who will be responsible for driving the sustainability agenda, so it is vital that they have access to the latest information and initiatives. Bill's experience in energy efficiency and renewable technology will be a real an asset to our in-house team, and will enable us to continue providing our members with the tools they need to further their businesses."
Bill Wright added: "The ECA's commitment to the sustainability agenda is a key reason why I was delighted to join the association. As the issue becomes more and more important, I look forward to playing an active role in continuing to advise our members on how to do business in this area."
Wright is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the IET and he has an MA in engineering from Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
