Tratos awarded ISO 14001 : 2004 for environmental management
Cable manufacturer Tratos has been awarded ISO 14001 : 2004 certification for its environmental management systems.
The certification, awarded by Basec (British Approvals Service for Cables), is for the management and control of environmental systems at Tratos' Knowsley site employed in the design, manufacture and supply of flexible cables and cords, instrumentation and control cables and power cables rated up to 600/1000V, as well as insulation and sheathing materials used on these cables.
Tratos is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and has implemented a number of procedures to affect this, including keeping its packaging carbon footprint as low as possible through, for example, the use of recycled material and local sourcing.
Tratos is a European manufacturer of electrical, electronic and fibre optic cables with clients including electrical contracting and manufacturing organisations, regional electricity distribution and government departments. In addition, Tratos owns Modular Wiring Systems, which produces modular sub-circuit distribution systems prefabricated off-site, using Tratos cable.
