Following David Pollock's retirement, Steve Bratt has taken on the role of group CEO of the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA). Having joined the ECA as Chief Operating Officer in 2007, Bratt was appointed deputy chief executive in February this year.
Bratt's career has been centred around the building services and construction sector. In more recent times, he was with Corgi where his roles included group commercial director, managing director of Corgi Services and member of the Corgi Group Board. Whilst at Corgi he was twice recognised by the Department of Trade and Industry as one of Britain's top 200 businessmen after achieving significant commercial growth for the Corgi Group.
He joined ECA from Magna Housing Group where he was group business development director and MD of two subsidiaries both involved in house building.
"It's an exciting time to be taking the helm of the ECA," Bratt said. "David has guided the Association well over the past 13 years – particularly during the recession, with membership now standing at just over 3,000 and support services continuing to deliver much needed assistance and advice through these difficult times. Through his, and the team's, efforts our voice is being heard more clearly in the corridors of power, something which I pledge to continue as the industry faces the many challenges and opportunities ahead.
"I aim not only to identify potential opportunities, but to provide members with the support they need to take advantage of these opportunities; the most prominent being the massive drive towards energy efficiency. I look forward to continuing the good work of the Association, establishing the ECA as a value-adding trade association which focuses on providing good quality business and technical support to help members prosper."
David Pollock added: "I can't think of anyone better suited to take over the group CEO's role. Steve has been a key player in the ECA's development over the last three years, and our members can rest assured that the Association is safe in his hands. He has been a superb deputy and I wish him every success in his new role."
