Video of the Week – E4.350 Energy Chain: The largest plastic Energy Chain in the world

Electrical Review Logo

The igus E4.350 Energy Chain is currently the largest plastic Energy Chain in the world. It is predominately used for large, heavy, stiff cables such as those used on oil platforms, at steelworks and for heavy engineering. The E4.350 does not require any form of lubrication, it is modular and therefore easy to assemble and it is highly wear resistant even in areas of oil and sea water.

The test, which was conducted prior to installation, on the video shows the chain being moved over a 120m run where it can move at speeds of up to 4m per second. This run also has gliding and rolling areas for smooth motion.
