Legrand has supplied a significant order of wiring devices and cable management solutions to a hotel that it is intent on redefining 5-star luxury.
Rockliffe Hall is set in 375-acres of beautiful countryside in the village of Hurworth on the banks of the River Tees and features a championship golf course, one of the largest spas in the UK and a 5-star hotel that boasts three restaurants, two bars, and 61 sumptuous rooms, suites and lodges, all of which are based around a beautifully restored 18th Century mansion house.
The job of delivering this luxurious destination was awarded to The Shepherd Group, with Shepherd Construction carrying out the building work, and Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) handling the mechanical and electrical aspect of the project.
Dan Chappell, the SES project manager commented: "When you look at a project like Rockliffe Hall you can see straight away that it's all about quality and luxury. As such, the onus was on us to ensure the products installed reflected this and Legrand certainly made it easy thanks to the scope and quality of the products it offered."
Legrand secured the order by demonstrating how easily its different business units can work together to deliver a combined solution that simply couldn't be matched.
Amongst the many products specified were nickel finished wiring devices from its Synergy Modern range. Aimed at creating a warm, contemporary look by blending the style of silver with the warmth of brass, the chosen switches and sockets were installed throughout the hotel, including bedrooms, bars and a variety of public areas.
In the bar areas the flexibility of the Synergy range was further demonstrated by the use of grid switches, while the company's new media plates were installed in all bedrooms and suites. These monobloc plates, which come as standard with two independent satellite in-feeds, one terrestrial TV socket, one video return socket and a secondary telephone socket, are intended for use with satellite applications that feature live TV and recording facilities, such as Sky+ and V+. In this instance a bespoke version was developed in conjunction with SES, which featured two double sockets, one telephone outlet module and a coax cable entry point.
"The media plate was another of the reasons we went with Legrand," continued Dan Chappell. "Not only were they available in the same style and finish as all the other wiring devices they offered, but they also met all media aspects of the technologically advanced rooms in one standardised panel that was quick and easy to fit."
From a cable management perspective Legrand supplied bespoke floorboxes for the gym, cocktail bar and morning room and Swifts cable ladder to carry power and data cables throughout the basement.
Legrand area sales manager, Nigel Pickering commented: "We are the world and UK leader in cable management and so we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver solutions for any installation. In this instance the requirements were relatively straightforward, but the fact SES could deal with one company for both cable management and wiring devices proved to be a major plus point for us."
"Looking at the bigger picture, this ability to provide total electrical solutions across wiring devices, cable management and power and data really does differentiate us from the competition and is why we have adopted the strapline powered by specialists."
"This phrase sums up the strength of our brands, sales teams and market knowledge across our key business areas and is the message we want to get across so that when people think of Legrand they automatically think of us as an industry wide specialist."
