Areva's Transmission and Distribution division (T&D) in Indonesia has been awarded a €26m order to construct a substation and interconnection transformer at Ujung Berung, West Java, Indonesia. Though the end customer is PT. PLN (Persero), the contract was signed with PT. Twink Indonesia and PT. Perfect Circle Engineering, the consortium in charge of civil works.

The scope of Areva T&D's order covers design, construction and commissioning of the 500/150 kV substation as well as the supply and installation of a 500 kV interconnection transformer.

This new substation will increase the electrical capacity and supply in the Java area, in line with the Indonesian government's 10 GW program.

The project is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2011. "This new contract is another key success for Areva T&D in Indonesia," said Karim Vissandjee, Areva T&D's CEO. "It highlights our recognised capabilities in turnkey solutions and strengthens our partnership with our strategic key account, PLN."
