Marco, the UK's largest manufacturer of steel wire cable tray, and uPVC cable management company, has supplied over 1000metres of Apollo 60 Cat 6 data trunking at a new ‘state of the art' local general hospital in Blaneau Gwent.

Supplying electrical contractor, Balfour Beatty Electrical, the new £53.7m Welsh Assembly Government funded hospital will provide a significant improvement in the delivery of healthcare services throughout Bleneau Gwent.

The new Aneurin Bevan Hospital, named after the founder of the NHS, will reach final completion in 2010 and forms part of the long-term re-development of the former Corus steelworks in Ebbw Vale. The hospital will be the first in the UK and Wales to include 100 per cent single occupancy rooms with en-suite facilities, enabling control of infection and offering a peaceful and quiet environment that will aid recovery and rehabilitation.

Steve Davis, Marco business development manager said: "This is an important facility for the Gwent area. As a local business, it's good to see our products being specified at key schemes such as this. The client and the contractor chose our Apollo 60 Trunking to future proof their IT requirements for Cat 6 cables."

He continued: "The Apollo 60 met all of our clients requirements regarding 50mm bend radius, deeper back boxes and the data compartment, carrying up to 48, Cat 6 cables."
