The cost and efficiency of energy usage is increasingly an important question for everyone, especially businesses. The rise in energy costs of the past few years has helped focus our minds on the issue and the potential cost savings through better energy management.
As with any process the first step is to measure what is currently being done, in the case of electricity, clearly businesses need to measure and understand where the energy is being used, thereafter improvements can be investigated and implemented. Typical improvements can range from the reduction of peak demand through better scheduling of equipment start-up and usage, to the reduction of the overall bill by identifying equipment which is being left on unnecessarily or is inefficient or even faulty.
Electrocorder offers a range of products which give users the ability to understand their electricity usage and implement changes deemed necessary. The EC-3CT current logger is suitable for accurately monitoring single or three phase loads from 2A to 300A, it can be used to first establish the overall usage for a premises, then each of the individual circuits and equipment can then monitored to identify where saving lie. Generally on small installations it is not necessary to monitor voltage, simply monitoring current is sufficient to understand the energy usage.
On larger premises, with perhaps their own transformer – or where it is felt that the current consumption may be affecting the voltage levels – voltage and current would be monitored, the EC-6VA range of three phase voltage and current loggers have this capability. With input current ranges up to 3kA per phase, and sealed to IP65 as an option they can be used on most industrial locations.
Electrocorder has a range of ‘voltage only', ‘current only' and ‘voltage and current' loggers to suit most situations from light commercial right through to heavy industrial, giving industry the tools to understand and help reduce electricity consumption.
