Multifunction tester added to electrical test equipment range

Electrical Review Logo

The Ethos 7920 Multifunction Tester is one of the easiest instruments to use in the  marketplace today, embracing features required for both domestic and commercial safety testing.

The instrument meets all requirements of the 17th edition iee wiring regulations (BS7671:2008) and European Safety Standards EN61557. It comes complete with a large carry case, interchangeable probes and full set of test leads, a full calibration certificate and a 3-year warranty, as standard, eliminating the expense of having to purchase these separately.

A short form user guide is also provided should the contractor need further assistance. Even better – a demonstration video is available to view on You Tube, showing each test and how they can be performed.

Test selection is easy to follow with the large rotary selector and easy to read display, and has the functionality required to carry out low Ohm, insulation, continuity, loop/Pfc, RCD and 3-phase sequence test capabilities.

The feature of having the 3-phase sequence built into the unit is crucial for 17th edition commercial testing.

The intelligent, safety system built into the 7920 will always check the test leads have been inserted correctly before any live test is performed. If they have been inserted incorrectly then the tester will not perform the test, and will instruct the user otherwise.

In addition to this, the 7920 also provides a special safety feature that allows inadvertent connection to a live circuit when performing a ‘dead' test by operating a warning system on the instrument, both visual and audible, so the user is made aware of their mistake.
A safety cut-out will operate and ensure that no damage is caused – both to the instrument, and the user.
