Amid a strong contraction of the housing and retail sectors in the UK, the West and Central Division of building services provider, SES, has won a £7.1m mechanical and electrical (M&E) contract to install services at Standard Life Investments' Parkway development in the centre of Newbury. M&E work is due to start on site in the New Year and will continue on site until March 2011.

Working with principal contractor and partner, Costain, SES will carry out the installation of heating, lighting, power, fire alarm security, CCTV, public address systems, rainwater harvesting, sprinkler systems, car park smoke clearance ventilation, general ventilation and BMS to the brand new retail and residential redevelopment.

Robert Doherty, Divisional Director for SES said, "This is a very exciting time for SES. We're very focused on winning work in specific sectors with specific partners so, for us, winning this contract in Newbury, with Costain, is a great result all round.

"This development is a main focus for the council's Newbury Vision 2025, which sets out the council's aspirations to build an attractive and vibrant town centre, so we're very proud to be involved."

Parkway is due for completion in 2011.
