Kier heads for a hat-trick at Uxbridge

Kier companies are well on their way to completing a hat-trick at Uxbridge Business Park for long-standing client Goodman (formerly Arlington).

Having worked together on plots one and two, main contractor Kier Southern and M&E specialist Kier Building Services Engineers have teamed up again to make it three in a row. A 90,600 sq ft building is now reaching structural completion on plot three, creating a matching trio of high-spec offices.

Under a £13m contract, Maple Cross-based Kier Southern is on target to hand over the shell and core of the latest three-storey building to Goodman this autumn. Basingstoke-based KBSE is currently carrying out Category A design and installation work.

Main office areas will be served by a four-pipe fan coil heating system, suspended in the ceiling voids and fed by three high-efficiency gas boilers, and air-cooled chilled water systems at roof level. Lighting is supplied by high-frequency recessed modular fluorescent luminaries.

The reinforced concrete frame will be clad with a mixture of precast panels, curtain walling and anodized aluminium rain screen. As with its predecessors, an extensive brise soleil framework will shade the main elevations of the new building.

Kier Southern and KBSE are now working with Goodman on designs for a similar-sized four-storey development at Hatfield Business Park, worth around £14m.
