Thorn “Celest” is custom built for TC-L lamps

Electrical Review Logo

The energy saving TC-L compact fluorescent lamp that produces a pleasant "white" light, is an important new factor in the Thorn Celest range of lanterns, specially designed for minor roads, residential areas and car parks.

The Celest accommodates a 36-80W TC-L lamp, giving excellent colour rendering (Ra82) and high efficiency (typically 76 lumens per circuit watt). Thorn technicians have gone a stage further by setting the lamp in a highly efficient reflector, which produces an extensive light distribution, a useful 'plus' to maximise spacings, while reducing glare and keeping upward light to below 1 per cent.

Another operational advantage of the slim, lightweight, lantern is its ability to accept Telea outdoor lighting controls. This permits advanced control and monitoring, thus promoting better lighting management, reduced costs, fewer emissions and greater flexibility in use.

Designed with environmental respect and sustainability as key priorities the IP66 sealed lantern has a cast aluminium body with tough polycarbonate bowl and meets Eup, RoHS and WEEE requirements. Stainless steel clips allow easy lamp replacement while plug and socket connections ensure quick, tool-free maintenance. Side (34mm) or post-top (76mm) mounting is aided by an integral rotating spigot. Celest is supplied complete and ready to install in one carton.
