ABB has received an order from China Oil & Natural Gas Co for an AC800F Control System to operate an 80,000 ton/year styrene production facility. The control system, which will be provided by ABB China, will consist of two pairs of AC800F redundant controllers, six operator workplaces and one engineer workplace. The engineer workplace can also serve as an operator workplace.

The control systems will process approximately 3,000 I/O. Twenty-two S800 remote I/O slave stations will be connected with AC800F controllers via redundant Profibus DP.

ABB China’s systems integration partner will provide engineering, installation, commissioning, and technical services for the project.

Styrene is derived from petroleum and natural gas by-products. It is used in the manufacture of consumer goods such as food containers, scratch-resistant furniture, and plastic toys, and has a wide range of construction and transportation applications.
