Leading connector manufacturer AB Connectors Ltd has been awarded the CECC 75201-002 qualification for its new MK35 naval connector. AB Connectors is the first company to achieve this level.
The MK35 connector features shells made from marine bronze to significantly improve corrosion resistance and is set to become the connector of choice for all new naval programs. Encompassing a Mil–C–38999 Series III insert, the MK35 will replace the MK18 naval connector, which has been in service for many years.
Harvey Preston, Managing Director of AB Connectors Ltd, comments: “The MK35 connector considerably improves resistance to corrosion and extends the life of previous models. The connector enhances AB Connectors’ extensive product range for the naval market and builds on the MK22, MK18 and MK38 families of products, which are used by major navies around the world. AB Connectors has been the leading manufacturer of naval connectors for over two decades and innovative products such as the MK35 will ensure we remain the world leader for many years to come.”
The MK35 is interchangeable with the standard connector and is fully ‘scoop proof’, featuring a triple-start coarse thread coupling mechanism with a self-locking anti-vibration device. Further benefits are provided by the crimp rear-removable contacts, which are protected from mating damage by restricted entry. In addition, on coupling the seal is assured by bringing together the respective inserts of plug and socket.
