EAL, awarding body for engineering vocational qualifications and the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (Nebosh), an awarding body for health, safety and environment qualifications, have entered into a partnership to promote health and safety standards.
In a memorandum of understanding signed by EAL chairman, the Rt Hon Lord Trefgarne, PC, and Nebosh chairman, Mr David Morris, both organisations agreed to jointly promote and signpost each other’s qualifications.
EAL and Nebosh centres in the UK and overseas will be encouraged to offer the qualifications of both bodies. The partners will investigate the possible joint badging and promotion of EAL units in occupational safety and health (OSH) at level three and below. They will also look into incorporating a jointly-badged OSH unit in the Technical Certificates of Modern Apprenticeships. The collaboration will benefit centres and offer candidates wider recognition and progression within the Framework for Achievement.
Ann Watson, Managing Director of EAL, said: “There is good synergy between the work of both our organisations. Working together will serve to highlight the importance of health and safety and the need for robust qualifications.”
