Long Range Detection from CP Electronics

Electrical Review Logo

Lighting control experts CP Electronics have launched the MWS4, a long-range microwave detector that covers an adjustable range of up to 60 metres, making it ideal for energy saving applications in large open spaces. Designed to complement the wide range of sensors in CP’s product range, the new MWS4 standalone sensor is simple to install, requiring only mains input and providing a volt-free output contact.

The enclosure of the MWS4 is IP54 rated and has a detachable mounting bracket which allows the unit to be wall or ceiling mounted at an adjustable angle. Occupancy is detected to a maximum of 60 metres on axis via an intelligent microwave sensor, whilst operation can be adjusted manually by using the three presets provided or remotely via an optional remote control handset. The three user adjustable settings are ‘Sensitivity’, which controls the range of coverage, ‘Lux’ that determines the lux level input at which the load will be switched on during occupancy and finally ‘Time’, which sets the duration of time the lights stay on from the last occupancy (the delay is reset each time occupancy is detected).

Ideal for use in factories, leisure facilities and warehouses, the MWS4 is an extremely cost effective single output channel control box with a built in sensor that has been designed to reduce energy consumption. Cutting down on the number of sensors required to cover a given area drastically reduces installation and commissioning times. Once installed, the settings can be adjusted via a remote control handset, making maintenance simple. Connections can be provided for both analogue and digital dimming ballasts.
