Five new 'families' of direct wall and ceiling luminaires have been launched by Thorn Lighting to build on the outstanding success of it’s 2D bulkhead range. The Rivers collection continues the company’s tradition of offering stylish, contemporary designs incorporating innovative new technologies at moderate prices.
Each range – Amazon, Thames, Seine, Loire and Danube has been designed to deliver striking appearance and quality performance. Within each family there is a choice of sizes, shapes, colours and compact fluorescent lamps so that both appearance and the amount of light can be scaled precisely to the needs of the application.
Besides their eye-catching styling all Rivers models offer simplified installation. Among the innovations built into the new luminaires is an ingenious 'light box' plug and play concept, which enables users to upgrade their installation. It also simplifies fixing by connecting to a common quick fix bracket. Contractors are thus able to pre-wire and install the surface plate, plugging-in the fitting at a later date. A 'twist and lock' mechanism, complete with security latch, allows the diffuser to be removed for easy lamp replacement.
Architects, specifiers and lighting designers will appreciate the lit effect of Amazon, Thames and Seine.
Amazon has a distinctive form, created by twin structural bridges between the elements of the cast aluminium bezel. The diffuser is encircled and spills light onto the mounting surface in a decorative halo.
Thames has a distinct concave diffuser face and tapered sides. Backlighting generates a floating halo effect.
Seine has clean edges combined with a smooth fronted diffuser, designed in glass for a classical appearance, with a contemporary feel. The unique ‘cushion’ design diffuses an evenly distributed lighting effect.
Contractors will welcome the fit anywhere (IP65) Danube, which utilises a flat front diffuser and bold flared sides to create a low profile luminaire. Versions with either a grille or half-visor add a further dimension. Its sister luminaire, the domed shaped Loire, is also available with similar attachments.
Integrated emergency lighting and digital dimming versions can be provided.
