Relay used in railway station auto lighting application helps provide enhanced passenger facilities

A relay from leading manufacturer Finder is being used in the Modern Facilities at Stations (MFAS) programme that improves the overall standard of facilities at category B to E railway stations across the national network.
The first installation is at Hazel Grove near Manchester, the scope of which covers the provision of an electronic/electrical control system for use with automatic toilets. All functions are controlled using a microprocessor based system with input networks and relay type outputs.
The installation programme covers both unisex and disabled facilities. Both consist of entry and exit control panels, automatic toilet clean, lighting, ventilation and heating control. Additionally, the disabled toilet has an audio annunciation system and induction loop.
Finder’s 44.62 PCB relay has been chosen to provide output switching duties between the PLC control system and the lighting circuits. Finder is almost unique amongst manufacturers in being able to produce a 2 pole relay of this style with a 10A current capability. Competitors’ relays are normally limited to a rating of 5A or 8A. Obviously, the higher rating of the Finder relay ensures increased switching capability.
Showing versatility, Finder’s 44.62 relay is available with operating coils of 6, 9, 12, 14, 24, 48, 60, 110 and 125Vdc ratings, and is able to operate in a temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC.
