New motor extends ABB’s process performance range upwards

Electrical Review Logo

ABB has extended its low voltage process performance range with a new motor in IEC frame size 450. The new motor, which is the biggest ever manufactured on the process performance platform, is rated up to 1000 kW.

ABB’s process performance range, which was developed to meet the needs of the process industries, previously spanned frame sizes 71 – 400 (cast iron) and 112 – 250 (aluminium with cast iron end shields). Output ratings ranged from 0.25 to 710 kW. The range has now been extended upwards with a new cast iron motor in IEC frame size 450. Rated up to 1000 kW and 690 V, the new unit is based on the same modular construction as the existing motors in the range.

In the process industries, efficiency and reliability are vital. ABB’s process performance motors are designed to provide unfailing service in the most demanding applications. A flexible engineering platform allows incorporation of features required by customers – either during or post-manufacture. Custom built motors can also be supplied.

Technical and application support for the process performance range is provided by more than 500 sales, design and production engineers. The motors are backed by ABB’s worldwide After Sales support and service infrastructure.
