Siemens has signed a major sponsorship agreement supporting the London 2012 Olympic Bid. Siemens has valuable expertise in key infrastructures and will provide a broad range of support including healthcare, traffic management, security and communications technology to London 2012. The agreement will give Siemens the right to use London 2012 branding and will enable Siemens to participate in all the key London 2012 milestone events and activities.
Lord Coe, chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Bid, said: “Siemens is known globally for its commitment to sport from Formula 1 through to mountain biking. We are therefore delighted to welcome Siemens as a Major Partner today and look forward to working with them and their unique skill set in our quest to successfully bring the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to London.”
London 2012 can benefit from Siemens’ extensive experience in global events, such as the Athens Olympics, where Siemens provided a range of services including transportation, ticketing, medical infrastructure and C4I, one of the world’s most sophisticated, integrated, civil security and communications systems. Siemens was also heavily involved in the Euro 2004 Football Championships, providing infrastructure for nine of the 10 stadia.
