Recolight, the specialist WEEE compliance scheme for Gas Discharge Lamps, has today welcomed its 100th lamp producer member. Recolight represents a diverse range of producers, importers and own branders of lamps in the UK covering a range of industries from the large manufacturers through to LED producers and niche lighting providers for sunbeds and fish-tanks.

Frank Craven, Recolight’s membership development manager, said: “LED manufacturers and producers have accounted for a large number of our new members. The technology for lamp manufacturing continues to advance and LEDs in particular are an ever expanding area. Through constantly tracking technological advancements and keeping up to date with all the changes in the industry, we can ensure that the quality and scale of the service we offer matches what manufacturers, producers and importers are looking for in a compliance scheme.”

Nigel Harvey, Recolight’s chief executive, said: “100 members is a real testament to the success that Recolight has achieved during 2011. In just over a year our membership has increased some 30%. This is because of our commitment and determination to provide the highest standards of compliance in the industry. Our solution means our lamp producer members know that their customers have access to free and easily accessible lamp recycling right across the UK.”

Recolight is run for and by the lighting industry, and its membership includes founder members Philips Lighting, Osram, GE Lighting and Havells-Sylvania. A full list of members can be found on Recolight’s website www.recolight.co.uk
