Socomec has announced the acquisition of PowerUp, a specialist in battery analytics software, in a move designed to bolster the safety, performance, and lifespan of the company’s lithium-ion batteries for utility, commercial, and industrial applications.
With the acquisition, Socomec is hoping to enhance its energy storage and UPS offerings with cloud-based analytics that detect potential safety issues, optimise day-to-day operations, and extend the life of battery energy storage assets.
PowerUp’s platform leverages artificial intelligence and decades of battery research to identify anomalies months before they escalate into critical events – providing an extra layer of protection beyond standard battery management system measures.
In fact, according to the company’s claims, its platform’s predictive algorithms can help maintain state of health and state of charge accuracy within ±2% over a battery’s service life, boosting maintenance planning and reducing downtime.
“In an industry where fierce competition on battery pricing can sometimes come at the cost of quality, this acquisition stands out by integrating innovative AI-powered analytics specifically designed to reduce safety risks and improve performance for Socomec customers. This move reinforces our market position and drives long-term value creation. By delivering smarter, data-driven insights, we aim to build lasting customer relationships through innovative, value-added services,” said Jean-Marc Guillou, Technical Director of Energy Storage Systems at Socomec.
“There are strong synergies between PowerUp and Socomec across our service offerings for utility, commercial, and industrial customers. These synergies will generate clear value-added strategies for both companies and our respective customer bases. Becoming part of Socomec marks an exciting milestone in PowerUp’s journey, allowing us to apply our battery expertise across Socomec’s diverse business lines – enhancing performance, efficiency, and safety for our customers,” added Philippe de La Fortelle, Chief Revenue Officer at PowerUp.
The AI-driven battery analytics are already being piloted with select Socomec and PowerUp customers. A full commercial launch is expected in January 2026.
