What will it take to build out the UK’s EV charging infrastructure?

Powered On Live EV Charging Infrastructure

The UK is buying more electric cars than ever before, and it’s imperative that the infrastructure is there to charge them. That’s why at Powered On Live 2023 next week, you’ll be able to hear from an expert panel that will discuss what the UK needs to do.

Tom Callow, Head of External Affairs, myenergi; Kester Jones, Connections Strategy Manager, National Grid Electricity Distribution; Roisin Naughton, Principal Future Mobility Consultant, Arcadis; Joe Beavis, Deputy Head, Office for Zero Emission Vehicles; and Jonathan Murray, Policy and Operations Director, Zemo Partnership will all be on hand to guide us through the subject.

Set to be discussed are topics ranging from the recent report from the RAC that suggests the UK Government will miss its target of having six or more rapid or ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargers at every motorway service area in England by the end of 2023, as well as the issues facing drivers in different regions – with those in London far more likely to find a charger than those elsewhere in the country.

Speaker spotlight: Tom Callow

Tom formerly chaired the motor industry’s principal electric vehicle group and has extensive knowledge of electric vehicles, infrastructure and associated technologies. At myenergi, his role extends beyond electric vehicles and includes assessing the policy and regulatory landscape across low carbon technologies more generally, including the future of heating, renewables and the energy system more generally.

Speaker spotlight: Kester Jones

Gurpreet has been part of the renewable energy industry for 15 years having worked in public and private capital markets. Prior to joining the Atrato Group, Gurpreet was a Director at the Macquarie Group, where he spent 7 years working in the principal investment team at the Green Investment Group (GIG) and in the Equities business as the lead renewable energy analyst.

Speaker spotlight: Roisin Naughton

Roisin is a Principal Future Mobility Consultant at Arcadis with a broad knowledge and experience of local, regional, and national EV schemes and priorities. In her role at Arcadis, Roisin is helping a range of Local Authority clients across the UK to roll-out EV infrastructure and implement a robust approach to net-zero mobility solutions. She has first hand experience of the challenges faced by Local Authorities and is helping to develop the solutions to overcome them.

Speaker spotlight: Joe Beavis

Joe is the Deputy Head of the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, dedicated to removing barriers to EV infrastructure. He spearheaded the installation of over 300 rapid charging points across London, and has a passion for sustainable urban transport.

Speaker spotlight: Jonathan Murray

Jonathan is the Policy and Operations Director at Zemo Partnership and has responsibility for formulating the policy objectives of the Partnership, in conjunction with government departments and members, ensuring the work programme reflects those policy objectives and disseminating the outputs of the Partnership’s work programme to policy makers. Jonathan has direct responsibility for co-ordinating the Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce and delivery of the work programme and liaison with Taskforce stakeholders.

The panel will officially kick off at 12:05pm on June 14, 2023, and we’re sure there will be plenty to discuss.

Powered On Live 2023 is already turning out to be stacked full of interesting sessions covering the length and breadth of the electrical industry.
