At the recent Powered On Live event, Jon Berry, Data & Digitalisation Manager, Western Power Distribution, detailed the technologies that are helping get the grid ready for net zero.
Kicking off day two, Berry highlighted the approach that Western Power Distribution is taking to get its network ready for the onslaught of renewable energy generation, as well as the increasing demand for electricity that will come from electric vehicles and heat pumps.
Berry detailed how the grid of the future will increasingly rely on data, with machine learning and artificial intelligence making our grids smarter and ensuring that the network is run efficiently, avoiding any potential blackouts.
