Entitled Healthy Homes and the Role of Refurbishment, the debate looked at what needs to be done to raise awareness and standards to ensure UK homes are healthy, safe and efficient.

The debate took place at the House of Lords and was chaired by the NHIC president Rt Hon Baroness Maddock. A successful discussion was had regarding raising awareness and standards to ensure that moving forward all homes in UK are secure and efficient.

Various industry experts were invited along as key note speakers on the day, including local leader of the Ashfield Council, Jason Zadronzny. Various parliamentarians were also invited along to join the discussion, and have their say on how a headfirst approach should be taken to make sure that everyone in the UK is living in a healthier, safer and more efficient home.

Mike Andrews, NAPIT group chief executive said, “As members of NHIC, we are extremely proud to see this debate take place in parliament. Like us, the NHIC are extremely passionate about improving industry standards for homeowners. Everyone has a right to live in a safe, healthy home with more efficient heating systems. With a bit of luck, this event has underlined how important this needs to be on the political agenda in the near future”.
