WHEN LACK OF KNOWLEDGE COSTS LIVES

Electrical Review Logo

Brian Tinson, MD of Tinson Training, is absolutely clear about one thing – knowledge saves. It saves lives and it saves money.

An engineer working for a major European lift operator was killed by an electric shock while working on a lift at Pentonville Prison. He had failed to isolate the lift from the power supply. The HSE found that the company had ‘not provided sufficient information and instruction concerning work on electrical systems nor supervised employees properly’. The result cost an engineer his life and the company a £100,000 fine plus costs.

It is this sort of outcome that has made Brian Tinson so passionate about providing electrical training on site and bespoke to the business concerned. As he says “ the right knowledge in the right context is the best insurance against deadly and costly accidents”.
