The phasing out of the incandescent light bulb has been well documented and is understood by most electrical contracting professionals; however what is less well understood are the best options for replacing or upgrading these lights.
There appears to be three routes, energy efficient halogens, CFLs or LEDs.
Vision Accendo have been advising the electrical contracting community for the last three years on the benefits of installing an LED lighting solution. There are two major issues that determine the choice of LED and its suitability for the project.
The first is the lux levels required for the environment. Once this is understood Vision can provide a lighting design using either DiaLux or ReLux software that illustrates to the customer how the lights will perform in their building. The second issue is the existing costs for lighting, which is based on cost per kWh for power, the amount of hours that the lights are used and the ongoing maintenance and capital costs for replacing the lights. Using this information we will produce a comprehensive report showing the payback using Vision’s LED lighting compared to other alternative solutions.
