New timetable must be used to agree clear deadlines

The CBI yesterday described the government’s postponement of new regulations on disposal of electrical and electronic equipment as “the right decision” and said the extra time before their introduction must be used to agree clear guidelines.

The CBI deputy director-general, John Cridland, said: “The continuing delay in publishing regulations and guidance, with only five months to go, was leaving many firms confused about their obligations and with not enough time to put robust systems in place.
