Electrical Review Logo

Khan Shatyr, the tallest tensile structure in the world and the first shopping and entertainment centre to be built in the capital of Kazakhstan, is able to maintain the perfect indoor climate conditions thanks to an extensive range of HVAC sensors from Sontay.

The Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center is a focal point in the city of Astana. Turkish integration company, Ontrol A.S. installed an extensive building management system (BMS) from Tridium and their own controllers for the project with Sontay devices, including humidity, air quality, CO2 and temperature sensors featured throughout.

With visitor numbers reaching up to 25,000 per day, this new retail destination combines shopping, entertainment, restaurants, a spa and an aqua park. There is even a real beach, which has a constant temperature of 35 degrees, guaranteeing a tropical atmosphere all year round.

Sontay’s RH-DT02 duct mounted humidity sensors have been utilised to maintain the desired humidity at the beach zone.
