Mitsubishi Electric secured the title of Manufacturer of the Year at a gala dinner for the Micropower Council Awards 2012 held on 10 October.

The awards are part of the nextgen renewable energy event – a two-day exhibition and conference, held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire this year,  co-located with ebec – the UK’s largest bioenergy show and microgen, aimed at small-scale micro-renewable technologies.

Mitsubishi Electric won the award for its development of a range of renewable heating products for both commercial and residential properties, as well as its Green Gateway initiative, which contributes to the environmental debate within the construction industry and beyond.

“It was an honour to be acknowledged in this way, especially as the event brought together the cream of the renewable industry,” commented Martin Fahey, Mitsubishi Electric’s sustainable solutions manager, who also received recognition as a finalist for the Microgeneration Champion of the Year Award.

The awards, organised by the Micropower Council, were held at nextgen for the first time this year and the evening saw renewable manufacturers, local authorities, universities and installers compete for the eight separate categories.

“The calibre of the finalists and winners demonstrates the level of excellence that is being delivered by individuals, businesses and local authorities working in the UK.  It also reminds us that innovation continues to be a key driver in the microgeneration industry. Mitsubishi Electric should rightly be proud of this achievement,” said Dave Sowden, chief executive of the Micropower Council.

The Micropower Council represents companies and organisations active in the microgeneration sector and is an industry contact point for government, opinion formers, the press, and the public.
