Sentec, the smart grid specialist and product development company, has won the Green Enterprise Award at the inaugural 2011 Entrepreneur Country awards. Held at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in London on 1 February, the winners were selected by a panel of expert industry judges.
The awards were created to recognise the success, innovation, and achievements of UK businesses and the entrepreneurial leadership behind them. The prestigious Green Enterprise Award was awarded to Sentec following a nomination from Greenbang editor, Dan Ilett, in recognition of the company's significant contribution to the development of green sector technologies.
CEO of Sentec, Dr Mark England, who received the award on behalf of Sentec, commented: "Winning the Entrepreneur Country Green Enterprise Award is greatly rewarding and recognises the dedication of the Sentec team to innovation and development of smarter energy solutions. We are committed to creating and developing the smart grid and clean technology that will become a necessity with the changes imminent as we attempt to meet EU targets for reduction in emissions. Smart grid, with its associated smart homes, will enable upgrade of the network to meet modern challenges, accommodating renewable, local and intermittent generation, electrification of transport systems, and increasing general energy demand. As the rollout of smart metering here in the UK and globally takes off, we are looking to expand in Europe and continue to drive growth in adoption of clean energy solutions."
2011 has been an award-winning year so far for Sentec, with its technology partner, OnStream recently receiving the Metering Manufacturer & Technology of the Year Award, and the Innovation of the Year Award, at the European Smart Metering Awards held at the end of January in London.
